Manatee statue ‘sexually abused’ by drunk, belligerent tourist at Florida restaurant: police

A tourist was ensconced in the “Florida Man” trope after he allegedly “sexually abused” a manatee statue during a drunken scene at two St. Pete Beach establishments.

Anthony Lessa, 23, of Pittsburgh, was arrested Friday by Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies on charges of disorderly conduct by intoxication, police records show.

Lessa was first accused of throwing alligator nuggets into Rick’s Reef restaurant. When confronted by her staff, she “became belligerent” and “sexually abused” the restaurant’s massive marine mammal statue in full view of diners and workers, according to an affidavit obtained by Fox 35 Orlando.

The suspect then reportedly fled to his hotel, the Postcard Inn On The Beach, where the manager called police after he began “acting disorderly” and allegedly directed an obscene tirade at the receptionist.

After refusing to go to his room, Lessa was kicked out of the hotel and moved his drunken scene to the parking lot, where he was accused of “disturbing the peace of several other guests waiting for transportation,” police said.

The police arrived and found him in an “exacerbated state,” reeking of alcohol, with dilated pupils and no memory of his rampage.

After spending more than five hours in custody, he was released without bail, records show.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately agree to a public information request for the affidavit.
