McDonald’s Serves Items Without Tomatoes Due To Price Gouging, The Internet Just Can’t ‘Digest’ It

For Desis, an undeniable sense of satisfaction comes from enjoying a McDonald’s hamburger. The delicious combination of juicy patties, flavorful sauces, and soft buns provides comfort.

However, customers have felt the impact of rising vegetable prices, especially the rising cost of tomatoes, due to tight supplies and unpredictable weather conditions.

With prices exceeding Rs 150-200 per kilogram in various regions of the country, people are looking for alternative ingredients for meals.

Surprisingly, even McDonald’s, the fast food giant, is dealing with the effects of high tomato prices and limited supply.

Twitter users shared images of a notice about the ‘temporary unavailability’ of tomatoes at McDonald’s.

As a result, McDonald’s announced that it would serve its products without tomatoes until further notice.

User Aditya D. Shah shared a post on Twitter revealing that the ad was displayed outside a McDonald’s outlet in Connaught Place, New Delhi.

The notice, posted by management, expressed their dedication to providing customers with the best food made from high-quality ingredients.

“Despite our best efforts, we are unable to source proper tomatoes that pass our stringent, world-class quality controls. Therefore, we are forced to serve you tomato-free products. We are working to restore the tomato supply.” read the notice.

However, a McDonald’s spokesperson told the Economic Times, “To make sure our customers get the best quality that we are known to serve, we are forced to hold onto the tomatoes for the time being. [We are] working to solve this problem by employing sustainable agricultural practices, including hydroponically grown tomatoes in a completely controlled environment, to eliminate the risk requirements of the vagaries of the season.”
