Marybeth Byrd is an American singer and songwriter. She is one of the contestants on season 21 of American Idol, which premiered on ABC on Sunday, February 19. The season is judged by Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie.
Who is Marybeth Byrd?
Marybeth Byrd is a 22-year-old singer-songwriter originally from Armorel, Arkansas. She is currently attending Arkansas State University completely online. Her passion for her music originated from her childhood, using the stage as a means to express herself, as well as helping her overcome her stutter.
Marybeth began singing at a young age and by age 11 had already reached the finals of the Mid-South Fair Jr. Talent Show and the local St. Jude Cable/Radiothon. She later worked for her father’s food truck, Big Byrd’s BBQ.
In 2017, she was named Miss Greater Jonesboro Outstanding Teen with a focus on vocal talent and a platform of Stranger Safety: Be Smart, Cool and Safe. With her vocal performance, she went on to become second runner-up in the 2017 Miss Arkansas Outstanding Teen competition.
Career
In 2019, Marybeth performed “Angel from Montgomery” during The Voice blind audition, turning the chairs of all four Voice coaches with an impressive performance.
She entered as a Top 8 semi-finalist on NBC’s The Voice along with the help of her coach John Legend and her mentors, Usher and Taylor Swift.
Marybeth released several singles on various streaming platforms. As of 2023, she received the Young Artist of the Year award at the Arkansas Country Music Awards.
