According to authorities, when the man entered the business at 1:23 p.m., employees activated an alarm and a fog cannon. The incident forced the evacuation of the mall. Police quickly arrived at the incident, according to Inspector Daniel Meade, and a suspect was taken into custody. Meade stated that “no one else is wanted in connection with this incident.” The incident was described as “terrifying” by a Michael Hill employee who claimed it was the first time such an attack had occurred while he worked there. The worker informed the group that they would be sent home for the day and that the store would remain closed.
