Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella has stated that receiving the Padma Bhushan, India’s third highest civilian award, is an honor for him and that he looks forward to continuing to work with people across India to help them use technology to achieve further. Nadella, who wants to visit India in January, received the exemplary service medal last week from the Consul General of India in San Francisco, Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad.
Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer, 55, was named one of 17 winners earlier this year.
“It is an honor to receive a Padma Bhushan Medal and to be recognized by so many outstanding people,” Nadella said when accepting the award. I am grateful to the President, the Prime Minister and the people of India, and I look forward to continuing to work with them to help them harness technology to achieve more.” During the meeting, Nadella and Prasad discussed the crucial role of digital technology in enabling inclusive growth in India. According to Microsoft, the discussion focused on India’s growth trajectory and the country’s potential to become a global political and technological leader.
“We live in a historic moment of economic, social and technical upheaval,” Nadella commented after meeting with Dr. Prasad.
“Digital technology will define the next decade.” “Indian industries and organizations of all sizes are turning to technology to help them achieve more with less, resulting in more innovation, agility and resilience,” Nadella added.
Nadella, who was born in Hyderabad, was appointed as Microsoft’s chief executive in February 2014. He was also appointed as the company’s president in June 2021, an additional role in which he would oversee work to determine the board’s agenda.
The Padma Awards are one of India’s highest civilian honours, and are awarded annually on the eve of Republic Day.
Padma Vibhushan (For Extraordinary and Distinguished Service), Padma Bhushan (Highest Ranking Distinguished Service) and Padma Shri are the three award categories (Distinguished Service). The award is intended to recognize achievement in any activity or discipline that involves an aspect of public service.
The Padma Awards are given based on the recommendations of the Padma Awards Committee, which is appointed by the Prime Minister each year.
According to Microsoft, Nadella wants to visit India in January 2023, his first visit to the country in almost three years.
