Minnesota Democrat Dean Phillips eyes White House attempt to unseat Biden

Minnesota Rep. Dean Phillips reportedly plans to enter the 2024 White House race and compete for the Democratic nomination.

The three-term congressman plans to kick off his campaign Friday in Concord, NH, two sources told Politico.

Democratic consultant Fletcher Ridge obtained a permit for State House Plaza from 8 a.m. to noon Friday, a spokesperson for the Concord Department of Administrative Services said.

Tennessee-based Fletcher has been approached about working on Phillips’ campaign, a source said.

Meanwhile, New Hampshire Democratic Party Chairman Ray Buckley told WMUR-TV that Phillips, 54, told him he is considering running in the first primary vote in the country before the New Hampshire filing deadline. Hampshire on Friday.

Yet another source warned that Phillips could still backtrack and opt not to launch a risky campaign to unseat fellow Democrat President Joe Biden.

Earlier this month, Phillips resigned as co-chair of the Democratic Policy and Communications Committee over his flirtation with running for president.

Phillips has insisted that President Biden’s advanced age, 80, puts him at a great disadvantage to be re-elected and govern the country for four more years.
