A terrifying incident in Phnom Penh, Cambodia recently rocked the internet. In a nail-biting video that went viral on the internet, a mother was seen rescuing her baby from being trapped in a roller seconds before the roof of her house collapsed.

The incident occurred on July 3 in the capital city of Cambodia, according to media reports. The video captures merchant Pip Srey, her mother, and her brave rescue mission. Srey operates her business in the same building.
On the day the disaster struck, Srey was with two of her young children, who ran screaming out of the room once they sensed the ceiling was about to collapse. In addition to having two children on foot, her mother was also carrying a baby in her hands when the four of them began to escape before the disaster.
However, before getting to safety, the mother turned and jumped in to save another child who was wandering around cluelessly in a walker. Without wasting a split second, Srey grabbed the walker with the baby still inside and ran for the bedroom door.

Poor construction and heavy rain caused the roof to collapse, says a builder working on the repair
A split second after she grabbed the baby and ran for her life, the roof of the house collapsed. Srey shared his shock after the incident, saying: “He would have died if the roof had fallen on him. It was just my instinct to run when I saw the ceiling come down.”
She added: “Something made me look back, and I saw it there, so I just ran and grabbed it.” The builders who came to repair the roof later attributed the poor construction to the sudden collapse of the roof. They also mentioned how recent heavy rains could also have been the cause of the disaster.
There was no waterproofing in the original plans for the house, explained a mason working on the repair. Seeing that the rain had weakened the roof, it was all a construction error that could have resulted in a fatal disaster.
