A California nurse found herself in a heartbreaking situation when a freak accident occurred at a medical facility. During the incident, nurse Ainah Cervantes became trapped between an MRI machine and a hospital bed, causing her serious injuries that required surgery, Fox News reported.

“The bed pushed me.” Nurse Ainah Cervantes shared her account with investigators, according to a report obtained by KTVU. “I was basically running backwards; if I didn’t run, the bed would crush me underneath.”
The nurse suffered a serious laceration that required surgical intervention. According to the documents, she had to remove two embedded screws. Surprisingly, the patient who fell from the bed to the floor was unharmed.

The report also states that the California Department of Public Health’s investigation found that the Redwood City facility “had not safely provided radiological services.”

Sheila Gilson, senior vice president of Kaiser Permanente San Mateo, said the nurse quickly received the necessary care and support.
“This was a rare occurrence, but we are not satisfied until we understand why an accident occurs and implement changes to prevent it from happening again,” Gilson said.
