Mysterious Disappearance: Netflix Engineer, 22, Goes Missing After Taking Uber In California

A 22-year-old person who works at Netflix in California disappeared mysteriously. According to the New York Post, security cameras captured him getting into an Uber.

After studying computer science at Cornell University, Yohanes Kidane recently started working as a software engineer at Netflix.

He had been in this new job for only two weeks. Surveillance cameras recorded him leaving his apartment and getting into an Uber at 28 North Fourth Street in San Jose, California, at approximately 7:15 p.m. PT on August 14th.

“He traveled here [San Francisco] late July, July 26th, and he started work last week, so this was his second week,” the man’s older brother, Yosief Kidane, told KTVU.

Mr. Kidane added that they couldn’t contact Yohanes on Monday evening and saw that his phone’s location hadn’t changed from a spot close to the Golden Gate Bridge.

His mobile phone, wallet, and backpack were discovered near the San Francisco Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center, according to a missing person poster shared by Yosief Kidane.

”Someone in San Rafael, who was commuting, saw a phone and wallet sitting on this small grassy hill between the Welcome Center and coffee shop. Thirty bucks in cash were in his wallet, ID cards, and phone, untouched,” Mr. Kidane’s brother said.

He’s identified as a 5-foot-8-inch tall black man weighing 150 pounds—the last outfit he was seen in included gray sweatpants, a black hoodie, and black shoes.

“We want to take him home. I need my son. I need my son,” Mehret Hana Beyene, the man’s mother, who is heartbroken, told KTVU.

“Calling medical centers, homeless shelters, distributing posters, doing everything we can to get my brother back. My best friend,” his brother added.

According to a report by Fox News, Austin Farmer, who used to be Mr. Kidane’s roommate at Cornell, mentioned that a few days before Yohanes Kidane went missing, he had informed friends about another concerning incident involving a rideshare.
