A mysterious object has washed up on a remote beach in Western Australia. On a typical day, this side of the beach often receives rock lobsters. Recently, however, the beach has become home not only to the mysterious golden object that washed ashore, but also to the multiple members of police personnel who guard the machinery.

Western Australia Police on Monday instructed locals to avoid the remote part of the beach where the mysterious object had washed up. They also warned people not to jump to wild conclusions about the origins of the mystery object until investigations were complete.

However, even after the Police request, people on the internet have linked the piece of machinery to military, commercial and space craft. The object appears to be made of metal, standing nearly two meters tall with cables and wires protruding from the top.

The object made headlines after some civilians reported it to police on Sunday. Locals in the town of Green Head on the Midwest coast came across a floating metal object and decided to drag it to shore. Unable to find out its origins or what it was, the locals reported it to the authorities.

Internet theories linked the object to aircraft, the launch of Chandrayaan-3, and more

Some internet scholars speculated that the mystery object could be the wreckage of MH370, the Malaysian Airlines plane that disappeared in 2014 after flying south over the Indian Ocean. However, police investigations ruled out such theories and concluded that they did not appear to be the remains of a commercial aircraft.

On Monday, after internet theories ran amok trying to link the object to every possible mystery conspiracy, the Australian Space Agency brought the talk to a halt by claiming the object could be a foreign space launch vehicle.

The agency reiterated that until the origins of the object are confirmed, locals should stay away from that part of the beach. However, people continued to investigate the origins of the object on Twitter. One user suggested that the mystery object could be part of the recent launch of the Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission.

On July 14, the Indian Space Research Organization launched its third lunar mission, causing native Indians to swell online to celebrate the successful launch. The user mentioned that the object’s specifications were similar to those of ISRO’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, which is also said to be 2 meters tall and 2 meters wide.
