Recently, NASA took to Instagram to reveal a photograph capturing the Moon in its crescent phase. At the time the image appeared, it sparked great interest and left observers in awe of its splendor.
NASA explained in the post’s title: “During the waning crescent phase, our Moon is positioned so that most of the sunlight shines on its far side, which is not visible from Earth.
This phase marks the final stage before the lunar cycle begins again with the ‘new moon’ phase, during which the Moon remains completely hidden from Earth’s view.”
The space agency explained: “When viewed from the International Space Station (@ISS), the Moon appears in partial illumination, visible in the upper central section of the image.
Meanwhile, Earth exhibits a vibrant blue hue adorned with delicate white clouds scattered throughout the atmosphere, stretching from the bottom left corner to the top right corner of the image. The vast darkness of space encompasses the Moon.”
