Natalia Grace, Ukrainian orphan accused of ‘posing’ as a girl and trying to kill her adoptive parents, shares her story

Natalia Grace, a Ukrainian orphan accused of trying to kill her adoptive parents, has sensationally confronted her adoptive father in a new docuseries.

Grace, who was accused of “passing” as a child despite supposedly being an adult, tells her side of the story in a new six-part series titled “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace: Natalia Speaks Out.”

“In every lie there is a hidden truth, but you have to investigate enough to be able to see it,” he says in a previous clip.

“They’re not going to get away with it,” he adds. “This is my version of the story. Do I look like a monster to you?

In the docuseries, Grace talks about what happened after she was adopted by Indiana couple Michael and Kristine Barnett in 2010.

The Barnetts previously accused her of physically and emotionally abusing them while posing as a 6-year-old girl, even though she was supposedly 20.

She was accused of stalking the couple while they slept with a knife in her hand, a claim she denies.

“I was never in y’all’s room with a knife,” he tells his adoptive father in the clip while placing his head in his hands. “I know what I saw.”

“It’s very frustrating listening to everything Kristine and Michael say because I don’t know who I am anymore and I want to know who I am and what happened to me,” Natalia said in a preview of the upcoming documentary. “But I’m hearing all these things that never really happened from Kristine and Michael.”

Grace has a rare form of dwarfism called congenital spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia.

Her story was featured in the recent Investigation Discovery documentary “The Curious Case of Natalia Grace.”

Michael and Kristine adopted someone they believed was a 6-year-old girl in April 2010.

Two years later, the couple asked a court to legally change the girl’s year of birth from 2003 to 1989, which was granted, and changed her age from 8 to 22.

They then moved to Canada with their biological children, where their oldest son was due to start university.

In 2013, the couple soon found themselves in legal trouble when Grace was discovered living alone in an apartment in Lafayette, Indiana, leading to an investigation and her arrests.

In 2019, the couple, who have since divorced, were charged with neglect of a dependent.

Michael Barnett was ultimately found not guilty by a jury in 2022, and Kristine Barnett had all charges dismissed in March of this year.

The six-part documentary series will debut January 1 at 9/8c on ID.
