On Twitter, he described how he booked a car with Ola, but the driver tricked him into demanding more money than the app indicated.
He said he had arrived at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and booked a taxi with Ola. When she called the driver, she was advised to go to the designated pick-up area of Terminal 2.
When he arrived at the pickup location, he saw that the registration number and the taxi differed from those on the app. When she called the driver back, she proved that he was the same guy. He boarded the taxi because it was late at night and the line of people waiting for taxis was long. To start the trip, the driver requested his PIN. He alleged that the driver pretended to enter the PIN into the app. However, his phone did not show that the trip had started.

The driver said it might be a network problem. However, throughout the ride, the app indicated that it had not started. The man said he wanted to call the police or Ola support, but he didn’t want to put himself in danger because he was in a stranger’s cab.
When they arrived at their location, the driver demanded an exorbitant sum of money from them and insisted that they pay him only in cash. After getting out of the taxi, the man took a photo of the car and insisted on paying him via UPI so that the transaction would be recorded. He said that while the original fare when booking the trip was Rs 431, the driver asked for Rs 681.
“While I realize I should not have boarded the taxi (because the taxi number and description did not match), the series of events is extremely concerning,” he said in the tweet.
As the vehicle was leaving, the Ola app indicated that the trip had not started. However, the app later informed him that he had to pay the original amount of Rs 431.
