Nile Township Carla Lewis Murder Update 2023 Update
According to reports, in 2017, Nile Township resident Carla Lewis was the victim of a heinous murder that continues to command public attention in 2023. It wasn’t until August 13, 2019, when her husband, John Lewis, called the police officer in distress, that the case underwent some significant development. Arriving at the residence located at 1429 Lawndale Avenue, Nile Township, at approximately 6:00 pm, Berrien County Sheriff’s investigators were shocked to discover Carla’s lifeless body lying face down in a hidden room behind a makeshift bookcase in the basement. Following a post-mortem examination, it was revealed that she had been shot five times. Meanwhile, John Lewis visited the police department to give his account of the unfortunate events that led to the untimely death of her spouse.
John informed officers that his wife had spent the weekend with her mother and returned home Sunday afternoon. According to John’s account, they chatted about their weekend commitments before heading to the basement where they were growing marijuana plants. While she was engrossed in relocating and caring for the plants, Carla’s sudden scream caught John’s attention. Looking up, he noticed that two unidentified assailants were shooting at them. Despite her account, detectives found John’s statement questionable.
John was reportedly suspected of involvement in the murder of his spouse. Subsequently, after gathering all the evidence, John was arrested and charged with committing first degree murder. It was previously said that John was charged with one count of first degree murder for the murder of Carla Lewis.
