Disgusted passengers have detailed the ordeal of being stranded on a Delta flight that was forced to turn back after someone failed to contain their explosive diarrhea, forcing the crew to tear out the carpet to contain the “danger.” biological”.
“It was an experience that I hope nobody has to go through,” Marie Beals-Basinger told the Daily Mail of the flight that was diverted back to Atlanta on Friday, just two hours after its eight-hour journey to Barcelona, Spain.
“I hope the poor woman who had this experience recovers,” he said of the sick passenger.
The pilot of flight DL194 had warned air traffic control that there was “a biohazard problem” with “a passenger who had diarrhea throughout the plane.”
“It leaked down the hallway and it smelt awful.” one person tweeted of the unpleasant experience of his companion on the flight.
“It was pretty bad… The vanilla-scented sanitizer used on it just made it smell like vanilla,” Dee W. wrote on X, the new Twitter name.

“The flight was met by emergency vehicles and paramedics removed the sick passenger from the plane,” added Dee W. “After the plane landed, it was thoroughly cleaned. They didn’t leave until 2:30 am”
John Hudt, who said he was also on the flight, described it as a “disaster.”
“The drivers made the right decision to go around” he tweeted.
He said that while the plane was on the ground, the crew “ripped out the carpet” and installed a new one.
“Considering the circumstances, the ground crew did a great job, along with [with] assistants and pilots,” Hurdt tweeted on Monday.
The contaminated cabin was cleaned by staff, while the passengers of flight DL194 were transferred and arrived in Barcelona at 5:10 p.m. the next day.
Meanwhile, Beals-Basinger said she was in first class and therefore far from the disaster.
The FAA flight sheet, posted online, noted that it had to be diverted back to Atlanta after a passenger had diarrhea.
“We saw Delta crew assistants running around wearing protective covers or gloves,” Beals-Basinger told the Mail.
“They told us we would have to get off the flight because they had to do a deep cleaning and change the carpet.”
She said she and her husband were flying to Barcelona to take the Celebrity Reflection cruise.
“We were worried that we would miss the cruise,” he said. “We were sitting in the airport for hours, all very exhausted. They finally allowed us to get back on the plane.”
“Delta was very accommodating and provided us with continuous updates,” he said.
Fortunately, Beals-Basinger said, the cruise ship was still waiting for them at the dock “even though we were about three hours late.”

He said that “he hasn’t laughed more than when he called me on the phone to explain why he was still in the United States. She said it was the funniest thing she had ever experienced.”
The Post has reached out to Delta for comment.
In an earlier statement, an airline spokesperson said: “Our teams worked as quickly and safely as possible to thoroughly clean the aircraft and get our customers to their final destination.
“We sincerely apologize to our customers for the delay and inconvenience to their travel plans.”
