Surveillance video shows a group of robbers looting a local Philadelphia pharmacy while armed with axes and hammers during a wild night of looting throughout the City of Brotherly Love.
The Philadelphia Police Department’s Northwest Detective Division released footage from Sept. 26 in an attempt to identify suspects wanted by police for looting commercial properties.
The group of suspected thieves stole “all the medications” from a local family-owned pharmacy, police said.
Authorities said the estimated damage and theft is $150,000.
Police say the group of looters ransacked the Fairmount Pharmacy in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, at 10:50 p.m.
Authorities say the group, who were armed with hammers and axes, broke into the property, breaking the window and front door.
Surveillance footage captures the moment the large group of thieves enters the closed pharmacy and begins stuffing medications into the pockets of their sweatshirts.
Fairmount Pharmacy owner Gerald Volgraf said the robbers were only in his store for “less than two minutes” but managed to cause a “tremendous amount of damage.”

The group also stole about $68 from the register along with prescriptions packaged inside the pharmacy.
Volgraf said his tenants, who live directly above the pharmacy, notified him of the theft.
“At about 3 in the morning, I got a phone call from our tenants in the apartments above the pharmacy,” Volgraf told FOX 29. “When I got here, the doors were ripped off, the store was in disarray, there was a ton of debris, a ton of damage. “There was a lack of medicine.”

The small businessman said the robbery was a setback, but not the end.
“We opened at 9 o’clock this morning and we will be open tomorrow at 9 o’clock,” Volgraf told FOX 29. “We will not allow someone to do something like this that will break our spirit and break our commitment.” to the community”.
The footage of the pharmacy looting comes weeks after Philadelphia faced two nights of citywide looting from Sept. 26-27.

Photos of the destructive wake show a sporting goods store in a shopping center with mannequins and sneakers strewn about; an Apple Store and a T-Mobile store with downed phones and accessories; and several businesses with broken glass windows and smashed metal doors.
Authorities made more than 50 arrests, including a robbery suspect who was out on bail in a major murder case last year.
