Police searching for the “extremely dangerous” killer who escaped from prison in Pennsylvania are playing an audio message from the convict’s mother urging her son to turn himself in, as they scrambled to follow up on reported sightings of him on Tuesday. .
Danelo Souza Cavalcante, 34, who was serving a life sentence, is believed to have broken into a resident’s kitchen around 11:45 p.m. Friday, the day after his escape from Chester County Jail.
“I woke up my wife and said, ‘I think there might be someone downstairs,'” Ryan Drummond told 6ABC.
He said after hearing a rustling sound, he ran to the upstairs landing.
“What I decided to do was flip the switch three or four times, pause, and then he flipped a light switch from below,” Drummond said. “This was the ‘OMG this guy is down there’ moment.”
Drummond said she then made sure her children were still asleep in bed and watched as Cavalcante left the kitchen.
“I saw him leave the kitchen, walk through our living room, I opened that door and [and] he’s gone,” Drummond told the local news outlet. “He was wearing a white shirt and had a bag.”

Since then, he has been seen at least three other times within a two-mile radius of Pocopson Township, with local police responding to more than 100 tips from residents.
He was still wearing the prison-issued pants and light-colored T-shirt, though he was somehow able to acquire a dark backpack, prosecutors said.
On Saturday, the fugitive killer was seen on a residential surveillance camera around 12:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of Lenape Road, about a mile and a half from the prison, Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens, at Monday’s press conference. .
A third sighting occurred Sunday afternoon when a state trooper spotted Cavalcante from a distance and gave chase, Bivens said, but the trooper was unable to capture the fugitive due to terrain and other obstacles.
Bivens said Cavalcante seemed a bit worn and tired during the “brief sighting.”
At around 6 p.m. Monday, authorities received another report of a possible sighting of Cavalcante, but he was nowhere to be found when police arrived.
And early Tuesday, law enforcement officers in full tactical gear were seen speeding out of the area near Route 926 and Route 52, after they were spotted on surveillance camera in Longwood Gardens at 10:33 p.m. the night before, 6ABC reported.

“We will continue this search, we will continue a tough search,” Bivens said at another news conference Tuesday morning.
“He’s a bad guy, he needs to be in custody and we’ll get him.”
Bivens said Monday that the agency was bringing in more technology and personnel to help with the search, including playing a voice recording of her mother from a helicopter that was circling the area.
“One of the things we’ve done is the individual’s mother made a recording asking him to surrender peacefully,” Bivens said.
“It is being broadcast in an effort to facilitate their peaceful surrender,” Bivens said, adding that the message was recorded in Cavalcante’s native Portuguese.
Cavalcante was found guilty on August 16 of fatally stabbing his ex-girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, 38 times in front of their two young children in 2021.
At the time, Bivens said, there was an active arrest warrant for him for another alleged murder in his home country, Brazil, in 2017.
He was sentenced to life in prison without parole last week and was scheduled to be transferred to a state correctional facility in four weeks, according to 6ABC.

But on Thursday morning, Cavalcante somehow managed to escape from the Chester County jail, and investigators said they believed he was headed south.
Authorities are still trying to figure out how he was able to escape.
Bivens also said he thinks Cavalcante “will make a mistake”, noting: “We’re forcing him to move, and that’s a good thing.”
Bivens said his team recognizes that this is stressful for the local community, adding that he assured that state and local police, in conjunction with federal authorities, are working to conclude the search as soon as possible.
Prosecutors are also urging residents to stay inside and lock their vehicles, as well as review surveillance footage for possible Cavalcante sightings.

“Danelo Cavalcante is considered an extremely dangerous man,” the prosecutor’s notice reads. “Please stay tuned to help with this search.
“If you see this individual, do not approach him. Call 911 immediately.”
It remains unclear how Cavalcante entered the United States, as immigration officials told Fox News Digital that he was not “inspected or admitted by a United States immigration official.”
“Following his arrest in the United States, ICE became aware of his unlawful presence and an arrest warrant was filed against Souza Cavalcante,” an agency spokesperson said.
“ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) from the ERO Philadelphia Field Office is supporting local, state and federal partners in the search for Souza Cavalcante.”
Pennsylvania law enforcement officials and the U.S. Marshals Service are offering a $10,000 reward for Cavalcante.
