President Biden and son Hunter take Thanksgiving ‘polar plunge’ into frigid waters off Nantucket

President Biden and his son Hunter Biden were among the first family to go Thanksgiving swimming in the frigid waters off Nantucket on Thursday.

“Biden family’s annual polar bear drop. Happy Thanksgiving!” Naomi Biden, the president’s 81-year-old granddaughter, wrote in a x publication.

Naomi included a photo showing some members of the Biden clan wrapped in towels and standing on a rocky beach after their cold Turkey Day dip.

Water temperatures in Nantucket Sound were a bitter 48 F Thursday afternoon.

Joe has spent almost every Thanksgiving on the island since 1975.

During his tenure as vice president, Joe and his grandchildren frequently participated in Nantucket’s annual Cold Turkey Plunge, a charity event where participants run into the icy salt water and rush back to shore.

This time, it appears the president opted to use the waters of billionaire David Rubenstein’s 13-acre beachfront estate for his traditional swim.

Joe and his extended family will spend six days at the hedge fund billionaire’s lavish mansion, the same resort where they vacationed in both 2021 and 2022.

The White House has declined to say whether the president pays rent on Rubenstein’s property, valued at $38.9 million.

Before their afternoon swim, the president and first lady Jill Biden delivered several pumpkin pies to the Nantucket Fire Department and chatted with first responders.

Joe briefly responded to reporters’ questions about the hostage situation in Gaza and American citizens imprisoned in Russia.

Asked if Abigail Mor Edan, a 3-year-old Israeli-American girl held captive in Palestinian territory, would be among those freed, the commander in chief said: “I’m keeping my fingers crossed.”

When asked if he had a message for Wall Street Journal journalist Evan Gershkovich and former U.S. Marine Paul Whelan, Joe responded, “We won’t give up.”

Gershkovich has been detained on espionage charges in Russia since March, and Whelan was sentenced to 16 years of hard labor in a Russian penal colony in 2020 after his arrest in 2018 on espionage allegations.

The US government, Gershkovich and Whelan deny the allegations.
