Prince William’s strict eating habits revealed, thanks to King Charles’ shocking rule

Prince William, a foodie? I do not think.

The Prince of Wales, 41, reportedly has some peculiar eating habits when performing royal engagements, similar to those of his father, King Charles.

A source said Hello! magazine that, like the 74-year-old monarch, William refuses lunch when he goes out to shake hands and smile for photographers.

While William can sample delicacies while traveling, he doesn’t like to have a full meal when making public appearances.

As for the root of this strange habit, Charles’ former press secretary Julian Payne previously gave insight into why the king doesn’t eat his midday meal.

Payne spoke to the Mirror earlier this year: “The king doesn’t eat lunch.”

“So one of the first lessons I learned when I was on the road with him was to eat a big breakfast or bring some snack bars to keep me going,” Payne explained.

“The work day is quite relentless. Starting with the news headlines on the radio and a breakfast of seasonal fruit and seed salad with tea,” he added.

Charles is also known to be a big lover of hard-boiled eggs and eats at least one a day.

Last November, William revealed what his daily diet looks like during a visit to Cornwall, England.

The Prince of Wales spoke to nutritionist Monique Hyland about his food intake and she reiterated her comments on Cornwall Live.

The father of three would eat a large breakfast full of protein and carbohydrates.

William stated that he eats two eggs, buttered toast, apple juice and a cup of tea with milk and sugar to start the day.

“At first he was fine because he ate a healthy breakfast, but then he admitted that someone had made him a ‘trash sandwich’ for lunch, and that he had a chocolate brownie and a glass of red wine,” Hyland divulged at the time.

But according to a worksheet he filled out for Hyland, William usually eats a “somewhat manly-looking sandwich” with a glass of water. He is also “trying to cut back on sugar.”

He said he “doesn’t drink coffee,” so he drinks “two or three cups of tea” a day and likes snacks like bananas and chocolate chip cookies or brownies.

She also joked that William needs caffeinated tea because his “kids keep me up at night.”
