Prototype robot can clean rivers and play football for college students in Bihar

In a remarkable display of ingenuity, students from a university in Bihar have achieved a notable milestone by designing a versatile robot prototype.

This advanced innovation not only demonstrates its effectiveness in cleaning rivers but also highlights its prowess in football.

The innovative brainchild of students from Bihar represents a breakthrough with a dual purpose: addressing environmental issues through river cleanliness and providing entertainment with their football-playing skills.

This achievement emphasizes the potential of young minds to seamlessly integrate technology with ecological and recreational goals, signifying a notable advancement in the fields of robotics and environmental sustainability.

The widespread misuse of deepfake technology has raised significant concerns regarding the risks associated with Artificial Intelligence (AI).

In contrast, the positive application of robotics to improve our daily lives presents an alternative perspective on AI.

Talking specifically about robotics, we would like to highlight a notable creation by a student from Bhagalpur Engineering College in Bihar.

This ingenious individual has developed a compact robot capable of cleaning rivers and playing soccer. The ISRO Robotics Club of Bhagalpur College of Engineering has created several types of robots, and these prototypes have been successfully tested.

Madan Jha, coordinator of the Robotics Club, mentioned that the project has been underway since 2016.

Furthermore, the club achieved recognition by winning the winner’s book at Jamshedpur NIT in 2018. In an interview, Madan Jha highlighted the development of various robots such as Aqua Boat, Robo Soccer and Robo Hurdle within the facility.

Robo Soccer, designed specifically for soccer, is capable of playing the sport and protecting the goal post and has been successfully tested on a simulated soccer field.

Madan Jha emphasized that his main goal is to create a swimming robot with the ability to clean rivers and canals efficiently.

The club has already carried out tests of the prototype in large containers of water. He expressed optimism that in the future, his robot could contribute to the clean-up efforts of the Namami Gange project.

Madan Jha added: “We can deploy these robots in areas where human presence may pose a risk.” Rohit Ojha, a senior, articulated the goal behind Robo Soccer, emphasizing his intention to replicate the human-style game of soccer.

He said: “Football is a game that can also be played by a machine. This is solely for your amusement.” Elaborating on the Aqua robot, he clarified that the creation of it was driven by the notion that human life should not be put at risk in all scenarios.

Therefore, the robot would be used only when necessary. Although it is still in its prototype stage, Rohit expressed that if approved, the production of the Aqua robot could be expanded significantly.
