Purab Kohli is an Indian film and television actor, model and former video jockey. He is best known for playing Akarsh in the Hotstar web series Out of Love and its sequel Out of Love 2. He began his career in 1998 with the television show Hip Hip Hurray that aired on Zee TV. Purab got the highest audience recognition for video jockeys on Channel V.
Birth and early life
Purab Kohli was born on February 23, 1979 in Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh, in a Hindu family. His father, Harsh Kohli, is a hotelier and film producer, while his mother is a corporate trainer. Purab completed her schooling from St. Stanislaus High School and The Bishop School, Pune. He changed his stream from science to commerce and graduated in Arts and Economics.

Purab started his career in the year 1998 with the television show Hip Hip Hurray. He gained immense popularity by being a VJ for Channel V. He later hosted a travel show in which he toured India without spending much money. He was also part of the popular fantasy television comedy Shararat (2005). He also hosted the popular television show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa and Terra Quiz for the National Geographic Channel.
Films
Purab made his Bollywood debut with the film Bus Yuhin in the year 2003, where he starred alongside Nandita Das. She also appeared in popular movies like Supari (2003), 13th Floor (2005), My Brother Nikil (2005), etc. She also starred in an antagonistic role in Mahesh Bhatt’s films Woh Lambe (2006) and Awarapan (2007). Ella Purab also acted alongside Farhan Akhtar in the film Rock On in 2008, where she won a Special Jury Mention at the Filmfare Awards.
Web Series
Purab has appeared in web series such as Voot’s web series It’s Not That Simple (2018), starring opposite Swara Bhaskar. Later, she participated in the casting of the Netflix series Typewriter, directed by Sujoy Ghosh, and the Hotstar series Out of Love, where she appeared along with Soni Razdan and Rasika Dugal.

Purab Kohli married actress Yamini Namjoshi in 2007, but a few years after getting married, the couple separated and went their separate ways in 2010. Kohli married his long-time girlfriend Lucy Payton in a intimate ceremony in Goa on February 15. 2018. The duo is lucky to have a daughter, Inaya (b. 2015).
