Queen Elizabeth ‘had high hopes’ for Meghan Markle and Princess Kate’s teamwork: royal expert

The late Queen Elizabeth II had “high hopes” for the leading ladies in Prince William and Prince Harry’s lives to work together, a royal expert has claimed.

Royal author Ingrid Seward suggested Her late Majesty, whose family marked the first anniversary of her death on Friday, would have liked to see Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton join forces in the royal fold.

“Prince Harry’s place in the royal family has changed dramatically since his grandmother died and his father became king,” Seward told The Mirror.

“Instead of the prominent role he would have had, Harry was relegated to the bottom of the royal list. Almost, but not quite, an outsider.”

“The Queen had high hopes that the quartet could lead the monarchy of the future. Sharing the sometimes demanding and boring tasks and supporting her father in the future when she is no longer here,” she added.

Seward, who wrote the 2003 biography “William & Harry,” said the late monarch was “deeply saddened” when Harry and Meghan left the royal family and crossed the pond to the United States.

“The Queen has always preferred the company of cheerful young people like her grandson Harry, to that of intellectuals,” Seward shared.

“Harry would be the first to admit that his expensive private school education gave him nothing but a quick wit and an excellent talent for imitation,” the royal expert continued.

“But he always understood and brought great joy to those he met at official royal engagements. And Meghan too. She smiled, squeezed the flesh and hugged the audience in an enveloping way.”

“They were the perfect complement to William and Kate, who were polished and professional but still full of laughter,” he added.

It’s no secret that tensions between Harry and his estranged family have been at an all-time high in recent years.

Things got worse after the publication in January of his tell-all memoir, in which he alleged that his father called him “spare” from birth.

In a desperate bid to repair their sour relationship with Prince William, the Sussexes are hoping to rent an apartment at Kensington Palace, according to a report.
