R Praggnanandhaa’s age
Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa was born in Chennai on August 10, 2005. Praggnanandhaa is currently 18 years old. At a very young age, Praggnanandhaa developed an interest in chess after watching his sister play.
Praggnanandhaa earned the FIDE Master (FM) title in 2013 when he won the Under 8 World Youth Chess Championship. In 2015, Praggnanandhaa won the Under 10 title. The following year he earned the title of youngest international master. Praggnanandhaa has become the fifth youngest person to earn the prestigious Grandmaster title.

His father could barely afford his sister’s chess lessons. According to her father, Praggnanandhaa began to be interested in chess at the age of 3 and a half years. She used to watch her sister play.

Grandmaster Praggnanandhaa’s family includes his mother, father and sister. His sister, Vaishali, is also a well-known chess player and holds IM and Women’s Grandmaster titles. According to Praggnanandhaa’s family, he was introduced to chess by watching Vaishali. When Praggnanandhaa’s sister was young, she used to watch TV for hours.
His parents were concerned that this would negatively affect his education. Therefore, they thought that introducing him to a hobby would prevent him from watching too much television. Vaishali liked chess and started playing it. Seeing her sister enjoying her and playing chess, Praggnanandhaa also became very interested in chess. Since then both brothers have played chess and performed very well.

Throughout his chess career, Praggnanandhaa participated in and won many tournaments. At first, Praggnanandhaa participated in local championships. In 2023, Praggnanandhaa became the youngest Indian player to reach the Chess World Cup final.
