Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) has been criticized for displaying a Palestinian flag in front of her Capitol office even after the massacre of innocent Israelis by Hamas terrorists, prompting a fellow lawmaker to formally push for “put an end to this nonsense.”
The outspoken “Squad” member, who is of Palestinian descent, went viral Monday night when a photo of the flag shared by a Washington Examiner reporter was viewed more than 2 million times.
Republican Rep. Max Miller of Ohio was among those who responded, sharing an image showing he introduced an amendment that would ban foreign flags in Congress.
“The Palestinian flag should have no place here,” Miller tweeted.
Instead, “the halls of Congress belong to America” and “should be reserved for the flags that embody our great nation,” he wrote on X, the new Twitter name.
“That’s why I sponsored an appropriations amendment to end this nonsense,” he said in response to the photo of Tlaib’s flag-adorned door.

On Sunday, Tlaib criticized Israel’s “occupation” policies and said she mourns the deaths as violence engulfed the region following Hamas’ unprecedented invasion of the Jewish state from Gaza.
The progressive lawmaker issued the statement denouncing Israel as an “apartheid” state after some of her fellow “Squad” members sparked controversy for calling for a ceasefire in the Middle East.
“I mourn the Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today and every day. “I am determined as always to fight for a just future where everyone can live in peace, without fear and with true freedom, equal rights and human dignity,” Tlaib said.

“The path to that future must include lifting the blockade, ending the occupation and dismantling the apartheid system that creates suffocating and dehumanizing conditions that can lead to resistance,” he added.
Tlaib did not condemn Hamas, which launched the sneak attack that killed at least 900 Israelis, most of them civilians, and wounded 2,500 others, according to the Israel Defense Forces.
The Palestinian flag has been hanging in front of his office for several months.

In January, Tlaib posted a photo of herself next to the flag on social media while criticizing the Israeli government.
“Palestinians may be banned from flying their flag under an apartheid government, but we can still do it proudly in my office,” he wrote.
“I am proud to be a Palestinian American and I want the Palestinian people to know that not all Americans support apartheid. “No one can erase our existence.”

At least 704 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip by Israel’s retaliatory strikes, including 140 children, and more than 3,720 have been injured, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry.
