“It is mandatory for all students to secure a date before February 14, in consideration of the personal growth of our deserving candidates.”

He went on to describe how the “activity” would increase the students’ self-esteem and prepare them for success in the real world. The advertisement asked students, irrespective of caste, creed, colour, religion or sexual orientation, to find a date for themselves and support each other in doing so.

Since there was no mention of a date, the name of the branch director, or a signature, the notice could well have been the work of a student’s prank. The company Aakash Educational Services Limited vehemently denied having made such a statement.
