Rishabh Rajendra Pant is an Indian cricketer. He plays as a middle-order wicketkeeper batsman for India. He is also captain of the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League. Rishabh served as vice-captain during the 2016 U-19 Cricket World Cup. In 2022, he received the Test Batting Award from the ESPNcricinfo Awards for helping Team India break Australia’s unbeaten record at the Gabba.
Birth and early life
Rishabh Pant was born on October 4, 1997 in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, to Mr. Rajendra Pant and Saroj Pant. His father died in 2017 due to cardiac arrest. From the age of 12 he liked cricket, as he would go to Delhi on weekends with his mother to train with Tarak Sinha at the Sonnet Cricket Academy.
To play U13 and U-15 cricket, Pant was recommended by his coach to move to Rajasthan, but he was unsuccessful. To improve as a hitter, his mentor told her to change all aspects of his hitting style. His turning point occurred while he was representing Delhi in Under-19 cricket against Assam. Pant had the most points in his first innings with 35 and then scored 150 in the second.

Career
Rishabh made his Ranji Trophy debut in the year 2015-16. While playing against Maharashtra, he was the third youngest Indian to record a triple century in first-class cricket by scoring 308 runs in an innings. In Delhi’s match against Jharkhand on 8 November 2016, Rishabh scored the fastest century in the Ranji Trophy, off just 48 balls.
He was selected as Delhi’s captain for the 2016–17 Vijay Hazare Trophy in February 2017. He succeeded Gautam Gambhir, who had coached Delhi until the final of the previous season. Rishabh’s preparation for the match was decided by agreement, according to Delhi coach Bhaskar Pillai.
Rishabh made his debut for India in the year 2017 and became part of India’s Twenty 20 International squad for their series against England. He was the youngest to debut in T20 Match at just 19 years old.
In 2022, he became the vice-captain of the Indian team for the South Africa Tour series of India. But a day before the match he was given the title of Captain, as due to injury, KL Rahul was ruled out of the series. He became the youngest to lead India in a T20 match. He also recorded a century in the final match of India’s tour of England.
