Puranjit Dasgupta (also known as RJ Mantra) is an Indian actor, director, producer and radio host. He is famous for the wry humor of him. He has hosted many television shows and also participated in a dance reality show, Jhalak Dikhla Ja, on Colors TV. Mantra was awarded PETA’s “Animal Hero” award in 2017 for rescuing a parrot trapped in a wire.
Biography
Puranjit Dasgupta was born on August 21, 1982, to actress Chandra Dasgupta and editor Prabir Dasgupta in Indore, Madhya Pradesh. She did her schooling from Indore public school. She took the pseudonym Mantra and started her career as a Radio Jockey for Radio Mirchi in 2000. Later she also worked for BIG FM 92.7.
Matra moved to Delhi in 2003 and started acting classes with Barry John at IMAGO. She did The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui, Melodía de Amor, Ay, Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night and many more theater shows.
He also participated in a dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Ja 6 as a wildcard, played the lead role in Narayan Narayan- Chulbule Narad Ki Natkhat Leelayen aired on Big Magic channel.
His first appearance on the big screen was with Tum Mile in 2009 with Vinesh Films, a cameo in Game (2011) starring Abhishek Bachchan. He subsequently appeared in Bheja Fry 2 (2011), Panipat (2019) and Hum Tum Shabana (2011).
