Saswata Chatterjee is an Indian film and television actor based in Kolkata. He is best known for playing the character Bob Biswas in the 2012 thriller film Kahaani, starring Vidya Balan. Saswata began his career with a Hindi series based on Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush, directed by Saibal Mitra. He then acted in several Hindi and Bengali films.
Birth and early life
Saswata Chatterjee was born on December 19, 1970 in Calcutta, Bengal, to Subhendu Chatterjee, a prominent Bengali actor, and his wife, Anjali Chatterjee. He began acting after telling his father his desire to be an actor. He then joined the theater group Biswarupa, set up by his father and soon received many serial offers, including an offer from Sandip Ray for the television series Feluda.

Career
Saswata started her career with a Hindi series based on Samaresh Majumdar’s Kaalpurush. She gained popularity by playing the character of Topshe in the Bengali film Baksho Rahashya directed by Sandip Ray in 1996. Her performance in Bengali films was appreciated by critics. Some of her notable appearances include: Meghe Dhaka Tara, Jekhane Bhuter Bhoy, Rang Milanti, Abar Aranye, The Bong Connection, Tiyasha, Proloy and many more.
Apart from Bengali films, his character Bob Bis, who appeared in the hit Hindi film Kahaani, a cold-blooded killer, ended up gaining a lot of popularity. The character went viral on Facebook and Twitter with thousands of followers.
