Senzo Meyiwa’s trial postponed to Thursday

Much drama and confusion ensued in court during the trial of the Senzo Meyiwa murder case when a witness changed his testimony about what he said about the murder of Senzo Meyiwa. The witness who changed his testimony in court is identified as Msizi Jack Buthelezi. He appeared as a new state witness at the Gauteng High Court located in Pretoria. What happened to Senzo Meyiwa?

The prosecutor called Msizi Jack to testify about the two accused Bongani Ntanzi, whom he met after first meeting at a ceremony in 2008. When the state prosecutor was questioning him, Msizi Jack clearly said that Ntanzi had told him that he was detained because the police claimed that the suspect and his friends murdered Senzo Meyiwa. Former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was murdered on October 26, 2014. But the new witness changed his previous statements when pressed by Ntanzi’s lawyer. Ntanzi’s legal representative, Sipho Ramosepele, put pressure on Mzisi Jack when he changed his initial statement that he started living with Ntanzu in 2019 at a hostel located in Rustenburg, North West, and that the accused used to visit Johannesburg many times. He further said that one day he found out that Ntanzi had been arrested. Buthelezi added: “In the morning, Ntanzi himself called me. He said he was going to appear in court and asked her to come see him at Tlhabane court in Phokeng. I went there, but when I arrived we didn’t see each other. We miss each other a little.”

He eventually met Ntanzi when he was in police custody and asked the accused what had happened. Ntanzi replied that I had been captured for illegal possession of weapons and for shooting Senzo. Mzisi added: He said it was Maphisa and them when he referred to his friends. He said they murdered Meyiwa. “Then I took R500 out of my pocket and gave it to him and he walked away from me and started crying. That was the last time I saw him”.
