Shamita Shetty is an Indian film actress and famous interior designer. She is the real sister of legendary Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. Shamita Shetty was born on February 2, 1979 in Mangalore, Karnataka. Her father, Surendra Shetty, was a manufacturer of tamper-proof water caps for the pharmaceutical industry. Her mother is a housewife. After her studies, she moved to Mumbai, where she graduated in Commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics. Until then, her sister Shipa was well established in the Bollywood film industry.

Shamita earned a diploma in fashion designing from SNDT University, Mumbai and interned with fashion designer Manish Malhotra. Manish Malhotra tells her to try her luck in the film industry like her sister.
In 2011, she decided to resume her career in interior design. She handles her first solo assignment for a ROYALTY CLUB in Mumbai. She also opened an interior design company called “Golden Leaf Interiors.” She said that “Name taken from my name Shamita, which means gold leaf. Since she was a child she wanted to run a business called Golden Leaf. . I guess everything happens at the right time.” Shamita also completed her diploma from Central Saint Martins and Inchbald School of Design in London.

Film career
According to Manish Malhotra and his sister Shipa Shetty, he made his Bollywood debut with Aditya Chopra and Shahrukh Khan directed Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai starrer Mohabbatein in the year 2000. He won the IIFA Award for Star Debut of the Year – Woman for the role of Ishika Dhanrajgir in this film.
After her debut, she appeared in several dance films like Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai (Sharara Sharara), Saathiya (Chori Pe Chori). But the most appreciated performance of her was seen in the 2005 film “Zaher”, in which she was cast opposite Emraan Hashmi. She was nominated for Star of the Year-Female at the Stardust Awards. Later, Shamita was seen playing small roles in films like Bewafaa, Mohabbat Ho Gayi Hai Tumse and Fareb. In the movie Fareb, she first saw her real sister on the big screen.
Shetty also worked in the south film industry. She made her Tamil debut in 2002 with Raajjiyam and her Telugu film debut with Pilisthe Palukutha in 2003.
