Shandon Floyd found dead
Shandon Floyd, a woman who was reported missing last week, died mysteriously and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the incident. Shortly before midnight Tuesday, authorities in the northeast area of Richland County in the 10000 block of Two Notch Road found Floyd alone and lifeless. On Nov. 9, a friend reported Shandon Floyd missing, according to deputies. According to the acquaintance, Floyd had taken her car around three in the morning and had not returned at seven-fifteen that same afternoon. According to an incident report filed by the sheriff’s office, Floyd and her friend were both from Florence and were staying at the Roadway Inn at 31 Berkshire Drive while in Columbia.
Concern was raised that all calls to Floyd were going directly to voicemail, making it difficult for the officer in charge to contact Floyd. There are no obvious indicators of foul play at this time from preliminary inspection of Floyd’s body. The Richland County Coroner’s Office will conduct a full autopsy to determine the cause of his tragic death. Floyd’s mother, Amecil Floyd, asked for help finding her, stating that she was last seen on November 8. “I just want my baby at home. I have been begging for someone since Wednesday to please help me find my baby,” she screamed. “I want my baby,” Floyd said, adding that she believes the lawsuit is moving slowly because her daughter is transgender and because of her sexual orientation. Family members said Shandon was sleeping at the Rodeway Inn motel on Berkshire Drive with friends while she was vacationing in Columbia from Mullins.
