Shaylan was reportedly last seen on July 15, 2023 in the neighborhood of Linda Lane and Westgate Drive in Edison. The circumstances of her kidnapping are still unknown, which has caused alarm among family and friends. The police have launched a search operation that covers the area with land and air means.

“At this time, EPD is using all of our necessary resources, as well as additional agency resources, including, but not limited to, K9 search units and drones,” police stated. “We have also requested assistance from the NJ State Police Search and Rescue Unit.
As of Monday morning, the size of the search area had not been made clear.
According to authorities, Shah is a five-foot-eight-inch Indian male weighing approximately 140 pounds with black hair and dark eyes.
As the search for Shaylan continues, the community has come together to raise awareness, spreading the word through social media channels and distributing flyers. Local organizations and volunteers have also joined the search, organizing search parties and disseminating information to help find the missing teenager.
Authorities remind the public that any information, no matter how minor, could be critical in locating Shaylan and ensuring her safe return. The police agency guarantees that all leads will be treated confidentially.
