Teenager and father arrested in shooting deaths of pregnant Savanah Soto, 18, and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra

A 19-year-old man and his father were arrested and charged Wednesday night in connection with the murders of pregnant Texas teen Savanah Soto and her boyfriend Matthew Guerra, who were shot to death in a drug deal that left badly last month, police said.

Christopher Preciado, 19, and his father, Ramón Preciado, 53, were captured by San Antonio police more than a week after the young woman and her boyfriend were shot to the head.

Soto, 18, and Guerra, 22, were found dead Dec. 26 in a car outside an apartment complex in San Antonio. Her unborn baby was also pronounced dead.

Christopher was charged with capital murder, while Ramon faces charges of abuse of a corpse, police said. More charges are pending.

“It appears to be a narcotics-related deal gone bad,” police Sgt. Washington Moscoso during a press conference Wednesday night.

Soto disappeared on December 22, one day before she was due to be induced into labor.

His family reported him missing when he did not show up for his appointment at Stone Oak Methodist Hospital.

San Antonio police previously released surveillance images of two persons of interest near the crime scene.

The video shows one suspect behind the wheel of the victims’ Kia Optima, pulling into a parking lot next to a dark pickup truck driven by the other suspect.

Christopher is accused of killing the two victims, while his father allegedly only helped move the bodies to another location after their deaths, police said.

Authorities believe Soto and Guerra were killed around midnight on December 21.

Investigators recovered Soto’s cell phone, which turned out to be crucial, Moscoso said.

Officers were able to track down a possible location where the suspects’ vehicle could be, as seen on surveillance footage, he said.

Both suspects left the police station in front of local media on Wednesday night.

Police also made it clear that they are no longer looking for other suspects.

“Our deepest condolences go out to the Soto and Guerra families,” the department said on social media.
