Shocking video shows the moment a British teenager kills an 82-year-old veteran with a single punch

A UK teenager was sentenced to two years in detention after killing an elderly man with a single punch, surveillance footage shows.

Omar Moumeche was 16 years old when he punched 82-year-old Dennis Clarke at a bus station in Derby, located approximately 80 miles outside Manchester, in May 2021.

Clarke suffered a fractured skull and a brain bleed, leading to his death in hospital nine days later.

The 18-year-old was sentenced Friday to two years in juvenile detention after being found guilty of manslaughter in July.

While in Derby’s Eagle Market, Clarke stopped to talk to a group of teenagers who were playing at the top of the escalator, blocking it, surveillance footage released by Derbyshire Police shows.

The army veteran, who served in Singapore, leaves the supermarket and heads towards the bus station at around 4.30pm, but the group of three teenagers follow him.

The teenagers were seen surrounding him and Moumeche pushed the elderly man. Clarke then pushed him back.

Seconds later, Clarke was seen falling to the ground, hitting his head and becoming unconscious, police said.

Moumeche fled the police station and was arrested a short time later.

During a week-long trial, Moumeche’s defense claimed that the teenager “acted in self-defense.”

The other two children were not charged, according to Derbyshire Police.

Clarke’s family said they were “left with a feeling of emptiness” after her death, according to The Mirror.

Clarke’s nephew Ricky Davey revealed in a victim impact statement that the veteran served in the Sherwood Foresters regiment and was a fisherman in his spare time.

He also loved to dance and “adored his family,” was a devout Christian and was part of the church choir.

“It will take many years to come to terms with this devastating death,” Davey said.

“His death has left a void in the lives of the entire family and we are left with a feeling of emptiness.”
