Softball coach accused of stalking and sexually assaulting teen under guise of private lessons: Police

A Florida softball coach was arrested Friday for multiple sex crimes involving an underage player, police say.

Matthew Galhouse, 40, of Tampa, was arrested for sexual assault on a victim between the ages of 12 and 18 and sexual activity with a teenage victim.

He was also charged with stalking, promoting sexual activity with a victim 16 or younger, and traveling to meet a minor.

The Pasco Sheriff’s Office says Galhouse’s victim, who played for the Lady Hawks softball team, reported him to authorities on Aug. 17.

The illegal activity began in the spring.

“Beginning in late May 2023, Galhouse spent time with the victim and sent her messages via social media detailing his affection,” the Pasco Sheriff’s Office explained in a Facebook post.

“Galhouse also began meeting with the victim under the pretense of giving her private softball lessons,” authorities added.
