The son of a Buc-ee’s convenience store co-founder faces more than two dozen charges for allegedly recording at least 13 people using the bathrooms at his father’s multimillion-dollar Texas lake house and other properties, according to a report.
Mitchell Wasek, 28, faces accusations that he secretly recorded men and women “using the bathroom, showering, changing clothes and/or having sexual relations,” according to an arrest affidavit from Texas authorities and reported by KXAN, based in Austin.
Wasek, son of Buc-ee co-founder Donald Wasek, was arrested Tuesday in Travis County, the outlet reported.
The grisly plan was exposed when lake house guests, who were there with Mitchell Wasek, saw a charging dock with a hidden camera attached to the bathroom wall, the station reported.
The friends took the camera and found dozens of videos of themselves and others in the lake house’s bathroom and bedrooms on a microcard, and in Mitchell Wasek’s Dallas apartment, according to court records.
“They were not aware that recordings existed in the bedroom and bathroom, and indicated that they did not consent to being recorded or photographed,” the arrest affidavit states.

When the camera and its information were turned over to police, there were 68 image files, including those of 13 alleged victims, according to the affidavit.
The videos date back to at least 2021 and come from other locations, including a condo in Austin and a vacation home in Colorado owned by Mitcchell Wasek’s parents, KXAN reported, citing property records.
The “spy camera” purchases were also linked to Wasek and when people were recorded, Wasek was the only family member in the house, the station reported.
Wasek was charged with 28 felony counts of invasive visual recording and was released from jail after posting $280,000 bail.

The brand is known for its impeccable bathrooms and even boasts about them on its website.
The first location was opened in 1982 by Arch Aplin III before Don Wasek, who owned his own store, joined the business three years later, Forbes said in a 2017 report.
The dozens of stores, mostly located in the south, also have gas stations and car washes, as well as retail and food.
