A man was arrested after allegedly jumping from an emergency hatch on a Southwest Airlines flight Sunday in New Orleans, climbing onto the plane’s wing and attempting to escape as the plane prepared to take off.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in Louisiana said the man had been arrested Sunday night after escaping the emergency hatch and running onto the tarmac at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
At the time of the incident, the plane was still parked at the terminal and had not yet left the gate to take off, WWLTV reported.
Photos show the emergency hatch falling and the moment police escorted the man in handcuffs.
Witnesses at the airport said the man had been walking on the plane’s wing before jumping off and running down the runway.
