A North Carolina driver accused of fatally hitting a 6-year-old girl allegedly became enraged while being questioned by police, blaming the dead girl and calling her a “r—-d.”

Andrew Everett, 50, was allegedly driving 10 to 15 mph over the speed limit when he hit Joselin Perez Hernandez while she was playing outside her home in Cary around 11:15 a.m. Friday, according to a search warrant. obtained by WRAL.

Responding officers say Everett, who had drug paraphernalia in his car, showed a “lack of remorse” and “was impatient during the investigation.”

The girl was taken to a local hospital with brain and spinal injuries, to which she eventually succumbed.

Her father remembered her as someone who loved to make people smile, watch television and “dance all day.”
