Users expressed their fears that supervisors would go to excessive lengths and create an uncomfortable workplace environment as a result of the incident, prompting a great deal of criticism online.

A Reddit user @m_zayd recently shared a rather disturbing thought that one can imagine at work. The post read: “Walked into work today to find chairs missing. The front chairs for customers are still available, but all chairs used by employees during downtime and breaks have been removed.

There is still a chair available at the back of the store, but it is for the owner and has this sign attached to it. This is apparently being done to ‘increase productivity’.”

The message was accompanied by a photo showing a chair with a “Not for Employee Use” sign on the back.

The post received a lot of criticism.

The post soon caught the attention of people who flooded the comment section with their opinions.

One user shared: “There was a minor scandal at my last job because the morning shift thought someone from the afternoon shift was sitting while working. I told them it wasn’t my people but I made the mistake of asking why it was a big deal. They proceeded to scold me for letting people “sit down when they should be working” even though there were jobs that could be done sitting down.”

One user suggested: “Take your lunch break in the car. Use the store boxes to sit in, out of sight of the cameras and when no one is watching. Make sure you sit more than you otherwise would if you provide a chair and treat you like a human being, with respect, empathy and compassion.”
