What’s so special about this coffee?
According to Architectural Digest, every aspect, including walls, countertops, furniture, and even cutlery, is designed to make two-dimensional designs appear to come to life.
Where is the cafeteria located?
Located in Seoul’s Mapu-gu district, this coffee shop has become a magnet for coffee aficionados and those looking for a unique experience. Unsurprisingly, it has become popular among photographers.
A video of the cafeteria has gone viral on the Internet. “There’s a cafe in South Korea where everything is monochromatic and cartoon-like, making you feel like you’re in a storybook,” writes Science Girl in X. It’s known as Cafe Yeonnam-dong 239-20.
Why is it called Greem Café?
Greem, the name of the cafe, is derived from a Korean word meaning “cartoon” or “painting.” According to Architectural Digest, it is also known as Café Yeonnam-Dong 223-14, which is simply the address of the café.
On X, the video has had more than 15.5 million views and a large number of comments. A member of the public commented: “I haven’t been there, but there is an article saying that this cafe has gained more popularity among foreigners and has even secured franchise deals abroad.”
How have people reacted to the images of this cafe?
“He is known for his creative interior design with cartoons and comics,” another user commented. “Hand-painted murals of cartoon characters adorn the walls, giving consumers the impression that they are inside the world of a 2D comic book.”
