The recent theft of a van loaded with 10,000 donuts in Australia is a perfect example of how criminal exploits can take an unexpected and fun turn. Despite the daring nature of the crime, the donut theft scenario adds an element of fantasy to an otherwise serious quest for justice.

What happened?

In a rather donut-fueled caper, a Krispy Kreme delivery van, packed to the brim with 10,000 candies, disappeared from a gas station in Carlingford, Australia.

The daring robbery occurred while the driver briefly went inside to resolve some matters. The stolen van, loaded with a variety of donuts ranging from Christmas treats to classic favourites, was initially destined for Newcastle.

What did the authorities do?

Now, authorities are searching for the culprit behind this unique bakery-centered robbery.

“Police are currently searching for the van and the greedy thief. It is believed she jumped into the van when the driver was inside the service station.” Krispy Kreme said.

In an unexpected twist, a woman allegedly took the opportunity to jump into an unmarked Krispy Kreme delivery van and speed away while the driver attended to business inside a service station, according to Nine News.

Surveillance footage captures the woman stopping near the gas pumps before making her move, getting into the truck and quickly escaping. The stolen cargo, valued at approximately $40,000 (Rs 22,04,375), included the beloved $4-a-piece donuts.

Authorities have confirmed an active investigation and are urging people with CCTV or dash cam footage to come forward. “Police were informed that a female entered the unoccupied vehicle before leaving,” according to a statement.
