The body of an employee was found in the bathroom of a prestigious school in Sydney, while police search for her colleague.

The grim discovery was made shortly before midnight on Wednesday, after emergency services were called to St Andrew’s Cathedral School on Kent Street in the CBD following reports of welfare concerns.

The woman has not yet been formally identified, however she is believed to be in her 20s and a member of staff at the school.

According to the Daily Telegraph, police are searching for one of the women’s male colleagues who went missing near The Gap in Vaucluse.

The school will be closed on Thursday and Friday, with a message to parents assuring them that no students were involved in the incident.

A crime scene has been established and is being forensically examined this morning.

The woman’s death is considered suspicious; however, an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

A second crime scene has been established in the Vaucluse area and investigations are underway to determine if it is related.

St Andrew’s Cathedral is a private day school for children from Kindergarten to Year 12.

It charges tuition fees of up to $36,770 (US$23,000) per year.

According to the Daily Telegraph, parents were informed by text message.

“Year 12 exams will take place at the BBC as normal. Year 5 camp will continue as normal.

Another text message read: “Update: No students were involved in the incident.

“Police are currently investigating and we will keep you informed,” the text to parents said.

Police continue to be in contact with school officials.
