The never-before-seen photograph captures Earth’s atmospheric glow and a starry sky as the ISS orbits 258 miles above the Pacific Ocean northeast of Papua New Guinea.

The intriguing photograph, showing the Nauka science module and Roscosmos’ Prichal docking module on the left, was posted on the official ISS Instagram account. The post quickly went viral, garnering more than 48,000 likes on the social media platform.

The caption of the image read: “This high-exposure photograph of the International Space Station shows Earth’s atmospheric glow and a starry sky as the orbital complex rose 258 miles above the Pacific Ocean northeast of Papua New Guinea. On the left are the station’s Nauka science module and the Prichal docking module, both from Roscosmos.”

If everything is ready, they plan to launch at 12:07 pm EST (10:37 pm IST) on Tuesday, January 30.
