A CCTV camera at the location captured the entire incident. The thief visited a hanuman temple in Rewari, Haryana, and pretended to be a devotee before attempting a sneak robbery.
The temple is located in the city of Dharuhera, in the north of the state, where the episode was caught on camera. At the beginning of the CCTV footage, the man is seen innocently entering the temple premises and behaving like any other devotee. He sits by the altar and begins to recite the hanuman chalisa, reading it from a book kept near the deity.
For the first 10 minutes, the man devotes his attention to the chant while other followers arrive and offer their prayers at the temple. The man even offers a 10 rupee note at the feet of the deity while a priest visits the premises.

He seizes his chance once he realizes that no one is around. She looks from one end of the room to the other and grabs a handful of bills from the donation box. She hides the loot from her theft inside her clothes.
On the day of the robbery, the doors of the temple were closed on time as usual and the priest in charge made his residence without realizing that a thief stopped at the temple. The next morning, when the priest arrived at the temple, he found that the lock on the donation box was broken.
The priest informed the authorities and they inspected the temple’s CCTV camera only to find that a thief had entered the temple, sat down to pray and stole cash from the donation box before leaving. The heist surprised authorities, especially since the thief was apparently a devotee.
The police registered a case against the man and launched an investigation to catch the man who executed the well-planned robbery at the Haryana temple, leaving people speechless and stunned.
