Video: Internet uproar over video of tourists molesting Tibetan wild donkeys in Ladakh

Tourists often disturb wildlife in the places they visit by getting too close, making loud noises, or trying to touch or feed the animals. This can alter natural behaviors and endanger both the animals and the tourists themselves.

Apart from that, some tourists also engage in activities such as illegal hunting, fishing or harvesting of natural resources, which can harm local biodiversity and upset the ecological balance.

Recently, a video showing tourists in Ladakh violently chasing a herd of Tibetan wild donkeys has sparked outrage on social media. Watch the video here.

Nanda captioned the video, expressing her anger at the inappropriate attitude of the tourists. “Tourists in Ladakh Chasing Tibetan Wild Asses”. “Awful,” she wrote.

The video has received over 100k views and is still growing. Social media users expressed their outrage and demanded harsh punishment for those involved.

One user urged that such travelers be banned for life and rightly so.

Another man suggested that we need to get better in terms of how cars should be used. They pointed out how a car is always shown off-road in advertisements. The man also suggested that we also need defined pathways in such areas.

I’ve seen this in the Rann too. I think we need a responsible SUV driving movement. Maybe definite clues. I worry when I see ads for SUVs that show they go off the beaten path. Parts of Aravallis and areas outside of Bangalore have also been affected. @anandmahindra

Another man suggested that the tourist’s car be impounded and rammed in front of him by a steamroller, and that he be fined 1.5 lakhs and jailed for six months. “No TOURIST will ever do it again,” he wrote.

If only one of those tourist cars had been impounded and rammed by a steamroller in front of him, fined 1.5 lakh and jailed for 6 months… no TOURIST would ever do it again. But our judiciary, our laws…! !
