In the midst of the United States’ efforts to be much more transparent with knowledge of UFOs, the state of Maryland has become a hotbed of alleged sightings.
There have been nearly 2,000 sightings of unidentified anomalous phenomena in the state, home to Andrews Air Force Base and the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, according to data from the National UFO Reporting Center.
“It’s encouraging to me that so many people are coming forward now. “We are getting many more reports than we were just six months or a year ago,” NUFORC director Peter Davenport said of the 1,923 eyewitness disclosures.
“I don’t know what the future holds, but I’m encouraged that more people are coming forward and the government is recognizing that the UFO phenomenon is something worthy of their attention.”

One witness, Greg Facelo of the northeastern city of Port Deposit, recalled to CBS Baltimore an inexplicable vision he saw in the sky recently.
“It crossed the sky this way and it only lasted 30 to 45 seconds,” he told the channel.
“If it was a shooting star, a comet, some natural event, I wouldn’t have bothered sending it to you, but it looked like it was made by some form of intelligent life,” he said. “It was nothing like I’d ever seen before… It broke, then flowed and just vanished into the sky.”

While Facelo can’t describe exactly what flew past, his bet is on something non-human.
“Whatever it was, it traveled through the sky at a much slower rate than airplanes. It could be extraterrestrial life,” she suggested. “I don’t know. It didn’t seem natural.”
In addition to Maryland, recent data from the Department of Defense’s newly launched UAP reporting portal shows that many of the southern Atlantic coastal states (even former President Jimmy Carter may have seen one in Georgia) are hotspots for sightings, as well than Japan and the Middle East.
