A man injured three people on Saturday in a knife attack at the main Gare de Lyon train station in Paris, another stressful security incident in the Olympic host city before the Summer Games begin in six months. .
Paris police said officers quickly detained the attacker who used a sharp weapon in the assault around 8 a.m.
One of the injured people was in serious condition; the other two were slightly injured.
Police had no other immediate details.
In a social media post, Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin described the attack as an “unbearable act” and thanked those who detained the attacker.
Security in Paris is being stepped up as it prepares to welcome 10,500 Olympic athletes and millions of visitors to the French capital’s first Olympic Games in a century.
The Games will begin with a mass outdoor ceremony along the Seine River on July 26, a major security challenge in the city that has been repeatedly hit by terrorist attacks, most notably in 2015.

Gare de Lyon is one of the busiest train stations in Paris. It is a hub for both high-speed trains linking the capital with other cities and commuter trains serving the suburbs and cities of the Paris region.
