Queensland police have reportedly told a Melbourne court they have DNA evidence linking a man who was extradited from India to Melbourne to the murder of Toyah Cordingley. A 38-year-old man, Rajwinder Singh, was escorted by Queensland Police on a Qantas flight that arrived this afternoon. Within a few hours, Singh made an appearance for him at Melbourne Magistrate Court, where he was taken into preventive custody. Now, the news caught people’s attention once again after 2018. Toyah Cordingley’s family were “delighted but overwhelmed” when they were told there was no solid timetable for Singh’s transfer to Cairns after a judge Melbourne authorized the move.

Kevin Goan also added: “Investigators relied on DNA evidence linking Mr Singh to his homicide.” According to Acting Superintendent Goan, police also had telephone evidence connecting the movement of Ms Cordingley and Mr Singh and his individual mobile phones, which were traced to the west side of Cairns. He was wearing a black turban and a black sweater and was sitting calmly in the dock surrounded by two security guards. Now, he was taken from South Asia’s largest jail, Tihar Prison in Delhi, to the Delhi airport, where he was checked into the flight. Police also said he flew into India’s northern Punjab region on October 23, 2018, a day after Toyah Cordingley’s body was found.
