Trans Father Of Twins Celebrates Their Birth After 6 Rounds Of Artificial Insemination

One amazing individual’s desire to become a father has come true, a monument to the power of love, perseverance, and contemporary science. Meet Aaden Darr, a strong and driven spirit whose unrelenting desire to become a father has resulted in a joyful milestone in their lives. He can now rejoice in the arrival of their lovely twins after six arduous rounds of artificial insemination.

After six rounds of artificial insemination, the trans dad who wanted to prove he could defy gender conventions became pregnant and gave birth to twins.

Aaden Darr, 22, was born biologically female but came out as transgender at 16 after years of identifying as a lesbian. The Charleston, West Virginia barista claimed he would go through the process “all over again” despite being “scared to go outside” during his pregnancy.

Aaden realized he wanted to have a biological child after being on testosterone for two years. He promptly discontinued his hormone medication and went to his family planning clinic to advise them of his intentions. Aaden became pregnant with twins in August 2020 after five rigours months and six rounds of intrauterine insemination (IUI) with donor sperm. Aaden had a successful pregnancy and gave birth to twins Quinn and Carter in April 2021.

While Aaden was fortunate to have a fully healthy pregnancy, he says that he was scared to go outside during that time because he was so self-conscious about his changing appearance – he had begun to grow breasts again due to coming off his hormones.

Aaden safely delivered twin daughters, Quinn and Carter, in April 2021, whom he is now raising with his fiancée, Claire Behrens, 21, a barista whom he met in May 2022.

Now, the father of two is speaking up about his experience to “break gender norms.”

While speaking, he said he wanted to have a child and has always done things that people think he could not. So, he decided to defy gender standards further as he wanted to do this.

Once he decided to have a biological child he stopped taking testosterone and contacted a family planning clinic. He then had a sperm donor and started the IUI process.

It was a tough time for him because he did not conceive, but then doctors told him he has polycystic ovaries. After five failed IUI attempts, physicians informed Aaden that his sixth round would be his last.

‘It was weird when they informed me it had finally worked on the sixth round. The entire office was quite supportive.’ While Aaden claims he was never physically abused while pregnant, he claims he was scared to go out publicly because he felt incredibly self-conscious.

He found regrowing his breasts and becoming pregnant to be “very conflicting on a personal level,” but he says he would “do it all again.” He always has supportive parents when he tells them about having a baby. His mother was overjoyed. ‘My friends were quite supportive, as was my employer, Starbucks. ‘I was still afraid to go out in public when pregnant.’

Aaden also made a TikTok video in which he shared his fertility journey, which went viral and gained millions of views. Many trans men have unexpected pregnancies, but his was not. Therefore, there was no element of surprise or horror for him. But it was still quite difficult for him mentally.

‘I had boobs then, and it was difficult for me to watch them grow and develop as a trans man. ‘It was difficult, but I would do it again.’ Aaden had delivery via C-section in April 2021 and described the experience of holding his twins for the first time as “indescribable.” ‘Holding them for the first time was beautiful,’ he said. It was an unfathomable gift.

‘I’d honestly think that being transparent is beneficial in various ways. Certain ideas are more appealing to me. ‘I don’t believe toys and clothing are gendered, so if kids want a monster truck, they may have one.

Aaden came out as a trans man as a sophomore in high school in 2016. After being severely bullied by his peers, he decided to pursue his schooling from home. He couldn’t get hormone treatment till he was 18 years old. After intensive counselling, he began taking testosterone when he was 18.

‘I had no idea being trans was a thing. There isn’t much of an LGBTQ+ community in a small state like West Virginia,’ he says.

‘I had no idea trans people existed until one of my friends came out to me. ‘ came out as trans in 2016. I was bullied so terribly that I dropped out of public school. At initially, my parents were not supportive of my change.

When I was 18, I underwent lengthy counseling and began taking testosterone. I was on hormonal medication for two years before deciding I wanted to have a kid.’
