Trump considers 2024 election rally in South Bronx in attempt to turn Empire State red

Former President Trump is in talks to hold a large rally in the South Bronx in an attempt to woo black voters and turn the Empire State red in the 2024 presidential election, The Post has learned.

Trump had a deep discussion about a possible rally with the young Republican president of New York, Gavin Wax, during his stop at the group’s gala in New York City this week.

“He said he liked the idea, he wants the club to lead it. I said we have a great Hispanic group and a great black group that could lead the way,” Wax said.

The two spoke for more than 30 minutes during the gala dinner, and Trump repeatedly praised Wax during his official remarks to guests.

“I thought I should walk up and down the Grand Concourse and see what happens,” Wax said.

Wax told The Post that the rally would have to take place in 2024 after the primaries, which he hopes Trump will easily postpone, and that he was inspired by former President Reagan’s visit to the area in August 1980. The Gipper won New York in the general elections of that year.

“We’re going to take New York,” Trump said to applause during dinner. “I think we have a great opportunity…With hundreds of thousands of people living on the sidewalks and streets and illegal aliens invading our city and state like no one thought possible.”

Wax said Trump sensed an opportunity to make inroads among Black voters, who polls show are increasingly disillusioned with Democrats and President Biden. Earlier this year, Republicans took a seat on the Bronx City Council for the first time in half a century and Trump has long been popular with rappers and other influencers in the black community.

“The Democrats have destroyed New York City and made life much more difficult for everyone in New York State, and that is reflected in the polls that show momentum for President Trump. The map in 2024 will look very different than it did in 2016 or 2020,” a senior Trump adviser told The Post.
